TV raced trends for Saturday 26.1.2013

2:25 CHE Argento Chase (Registered As The Cotswold Steeple Chase) Grade 2 Cl1 3m1f110y CH4

ARGENTO CHASE

ODDS
A variety of odds up to 18/1

FAVOURITES
3 winning favs for a loss of -£12.44

TRAINER

Paul Nicholls has won the race 4 times from 16 runners with another 3 placed

AGE

16/16 6 to 11 so not much help there

LAST RACE

6 winners from 29 runners last raced at Kempton with another 3 placed

4 winners from 22 runners last raced at Cheltenham with another 3 placed

2 winners from 10 runners last raced at Wetherby with another 3 placed

0 winners from 21 runners raced in a non major race (i.e. Grade or listed)

Strangely horses that PULLED UP last time out have a good record 4 wins from 11 runners with another 3 placed producing a win profit of +£31.08

OTHER FACTORS
Previous course winners have won the race 11 times from 50 runners for a profit of +£45.24 compared to 5 winners from 50 runners for those without a previous course win for a loss of –£29.02

SUMMARY

In years gone by this used to be a reasonable Cheltenham Gold Cup trial with the likes of See More Business & Looks Like Trouble winning but recently with the possible exception of Exotic Dancer in 2007 this race has been won and indeed most of the field that have contested the race have been below Gold Cup class.  This year however we have the possibility of a quality race and as such I don’t think the trends, not that there are many concrete ones will stand up so probably a race to watch and enjoy from a trends point of view.

FINESSE JUVENILE HURDLE

ODDS
Odds from 2/7 to 100/1 are previous winners of this and throw in a 25/1 & 50/1 shot too so not much help, however on closer inspection those at 9/4 or under have won 8 races from 15 runners

FAVOURITES

8 winning favourites for a profit of +£1.36

TRAINER

Alan King has won the race 4 times from just 6 runners but has no runner this year

Paul Nicholls has had 10 runners producing just the one winner with another 2 placed

LAST RACE

11/14 finished in the 1st two last time out

13/14 ran within the last 60 days

OTHER FACTORS

(GER ) bred horses are 3/3, GB bred horses have produced just 1 winner from 39 runners

12/14 had won at least 1 of their last 3 races

13/14 had run at least once in the last 90 days

10/14 had run at least twice in the last 90 days

13/14 had run in at least 1 hurdle race

4 winners from just 8 runners had previously won a Class 1 race, another 3 were placed

SUMMARY

Another trappy affair but I would pay particular attention to those that had won a Class 1 race and on their last start ran within the last 60 days and finished in the first 2

3:35 CHE Rewards4Racing Cleeve Hurdle Grade 2 Cl1 3m CH4

CLEEVE HURDLE

ODDS

11/16 priced at 4/1 or less

14/16 from the 1st four in the betting market

FAVOURITES

8 winning favourites for a loss of -£0.61

TRAINERS
Not much to go on as various winners or horses that have won the race more than once

AGE

16/16 aged 5 to 9

LAST RACE

13 winners were priced at 6/1 or less in their last race

OTHER FACTORS
12/16 had run at the track at least twice

SUMMARY

We should be looking for a horse that has track experience, is aged 5 to 9 and is in the 1st four in the betting
