    Zarzal – 21 Oct 2012 15:20 – Kempton, 2m 0f 0y
    Trainer: Evan Williams
    Jockey: Paul Moloney
    Form figures: 35-
    Age: 4
    Country: IRE
Past Form: Unplaced in both starts over hurdles. Well beaten at 66-1 behind Grumeti when fifth of 11 on his latest outing in a Grade 1 hurdle race in the Group 1 Matalan Anniversary 4-Y-O Juvenile Hurdle at Aintree over 2m (good to soft) in April.
    Your comments: Yet to run

    ZARZAL (E Williams) – Thursday – 2.30 Aintree – 5th in the 2m Grade 1 Juvenile Hurdle

    Notes to follow

“It is clear the front 2 in this race are very classy individuals indeed, however, on watching the race again it was the run of 66/1 shot Zarzal from out the back that mainly caught my attention. The Dr Fong gelding was having only his 2nd hurdle start and considering his first was in the Grade 2 Dovecote hurdle we can assume trainer Evan Williams has a very high opinion of this one. This burly looking individual never jumped with a huge amount of fluency but given this was a Grade 1 contest, and he didn’t have the experience of the others, we maybe shouldn’t be too hard on that aspect of his game and this run is sure to have sharpen up his hurdling technique. He travelled smoothly between his hurdles and when jockey Paul Moloney asked him to take closer order the 4yo responded in fine style. He stayed on stoutly to the line and to finish only just over a length behind the 143 rated Sadler’s Risk is certainly no disgrace. He may well jump a fence one day but in the nearer future he surely must have a race or 2 at a lower level well within his compass.” up to Class 1 tomorrow yhat is a concern, but god loves a trier, take a look?

Zarzal ideal conditions – Early days yet but it could be a slightly more, testing track will be better for him. A bit less weight would be nice but i think he will cope and not out of my +9lbs limit yet.

    Good luck

Thanks, ZARFAL looks a very good horse and it may place or even win todays race. However there are several types which are in form and look open to improvement so cant say with any true conviction.

      Thanks Jon B
