TV raced trends for Saturday 29.6.2013

3:15 NCS John Smith´s Northumberland Plate (Heritage Handicap) Cl2 2m19y CH4

ANORTHUMBERLAND PLATE

ODDS
As would be expected with a wide open handicap lots of big priced winners up to 33/1

3 winning favourites for a loss of -£3.00

TRAINERS
Mark Johnston has saddled 18 runners but has yet to have one even placed

AGE

Winners range from age 3 to 8

OR/WEIGHT

16/16 rated at least 85

16/16 carried 7-13 to 9-5

However the top 6 in the weights have only produced 2 winners from 102 runners

DRAW

10/16 drawn in stalls 1 to 9

LAST RACE

Those that last raced in a National Hunt race have a fine record, 4 winners from only 10 runners so take note

0/16 came from a Class 4, 5 or 6 race

13/16 ran over a distance of at least 2 miles

16/16 raced within the last 60 days

12/16 either won or were beaten less than 3 lengths last time out

OTHER FACTORS

16/16 had won at least 1 race in their career

15/16 had finished in the first 3 in at least one of their last 3 starts

15/16 had raced at least twice in the last 90 days

10/16 had won at the distance before from 112 runners compared to 6 winners from 186 runners who had not won at the distance

SUMMARY

A tricky contest but I would be looking for a horse that has raced twice in the last 90 days and was rated at least 85 that today was carrying 9st 5lbs or less.  On it’s last race I would prefer it to have been over at least 2 miles and either won or been beaten by less than 3 lengths and not in a Class 4,5 or 6 race.  But overall not a strong trends race at all.

2:05 NCS Betfred Chipchase Stakes (Group 3) Cl1 6f CH4

CHIPCHASE STAKES
ODDS

15/16 priced 12/1 or less

7 winning favourites for a profit of +£4.00

LAST RACE

8 winners last raced at Ascot from 47 runners with another 10 placed

3 winners last raced at York with another 5 placed

15/16 raced over at least 6 furlongs

4/16 ran in a Group 1 but from only 17 runners with another 7 placed too

15/16 ran within the last 45 days

OTHER FACTORS

16/16 had finished in the first 2 in at least one of their last 5 runs

16/16 had won at least 2 races in their career

16/16 had won at the distance

SUMMARY

A bit stronger this one and we should be looking for those priced 12/1 or less that last raced over 6 furlongs in the last 45 days, that has won at least twice with one being over today’s distance.  I would also seriously look at horses that ran in a Group 1 last time out.
