TV raced trends for Saturday 1.6.2013

3:15 EPS Investec Specialist Bank “Dash” (Heritage Handicap) Cl2 5f CH4

DASH

ODDS
8/16 priced 8/1 or less.  3 favourites hae won for a loss of -£6.25

AGE

Twenty Seven 3 yr olds have tried to win this and not even one placed

16/16 aged 4 to 9 though 6 to 9 yr olds perform best

TRAINER

Dandy Nicholls has won the race 5 times but he does throw a lot of runners at it with 44

WEIGHTS

10/16 have been won by the 1st five in the weights

LAST RACE

27 runners won their last race but none went on to win this

11/16 finished 2nd, 3rd, 4th or 5th

OTHER FACTORS
15/16 had at least 1 top 3 finish in the last 3 starts

16/16 had run in this class of race before

SUMMARY

We are looking for an experienced sprinter who by the looks of things didn’t win their last race, perhaps the increase up the weights puts paid to their chances.  I would also be looking to a horse that did however finish 2nd – 5th last time and is preferably towards the top of the weights and I would also prefer it to be priced 8/1 or less

2:05 EPS Investec Woodcote Stakes (Listed Race) Cl1 6f CH4

WOODCOTE STAKES
ODDS

12/16 priced 6/1 or less.

13/16 from the first 4 in the market

5 winning favourites for a small loss of -£0.74

TRAINER

Richard Hannon has saddled 19 runners but only won the race once, though another 4 were placed

Mark Johnston had had 3 winners and another 3 placed from just 9 runners so obviously likes this race

DRAW

12/16 drawn in stalls 1 to 5

LAST RACE
16/16 either won or were beaten 4 lengths or less

Horses that last raced in Ireland have a good record with 2 wins from just 5 runners for a profit of +£8.00

OTHER FACTORS
USA Bred horses have won 4 races from just 10 runners

16/16 had run 1 to 3 times in the last 90 days

SUMMARY

Not a great deal to go on but I’d be looking seriously at any Mark Johnston horses that priced at 6/1 or less.  Using just those 2 factors would have given you 3 winners and 3 places from 6 runners the 3 winners producing a profit of +£6.88 as below

4:00 EPS Investec Derby (Group 1) (Entire Colts & Fillies) Cl1 1m4f10y CH4

DERBY

ODDS

15/16 from the first 4 In the market

12/16 priced 6/1 or less

5 winning favourites for a small loss of -£1.88

TRAINER

Aiden O’Brien sends lots to the Derby with this year no exception as he has 5 of the 12 runners, his overall strike rate however isn’t too brilliant with 3 winners from  50 runners, he has managed another 9 placed and these have mainly been big priced outsiders so don’t be afraid to back a big priced O’Brien horse for the each way money

LAST RACE
16/16 either won or were beaten less than 4 lengths

15/16 ran in a group race

13/16 last raced at either Chester, Leopardstown, Newmarket or York

OTHER FACTORS
16/16 had won at least one of their last 3 runs

13/16 drawn in stalls 1 to 10

SUMMARY

The top of the market is the place to start with the first 4 in the betting currently

Dawn Approach – Guineas winner, fits the trends and a worthy favourite but at the price not for me with doubts surrounding stamina

Battle of Marengo – Won the Derrinstown Derby Trial last time taking a similar path to Galileo (His dad) and High Chapparel – 2 previous O’Brien winners

Ocovango – French raider trained by Andre Fabre who won with Pour Moi a couple of years ago

Chopin – The first German raider, to be honest I don’t know much about it

They seem to be ultra confident about Dawn Approach but at the prices I would be looking to take him on with either or both Battle of Marengo & Ocovango.  Of the rest I wouldn’t be surprised to see Mars step up on his 6th place behind Dawn Approach last time
